Sabbath Day

"CREATION SABBATH" DAY PLANNED

While evolutionists are gearing up again for the 150th anniversary of the publication of Darwin's 'Origin of Species' this autumn, Adventists are being informed to gear up for October 24--a day designated as "Creation Sabbath."

According to the Creation Sabbath website, Adventist churches are being asked to design their worship services around the message of "God as Creator" and to look at the implications that this biblical teaching has for Adventists. The hope is that this one-day focus will "create a worldwide sense of unity in promoting this belief in a positive light."

Another resource website composed of Adventist scientists, theologians and educators--Creation Restoration--encourages Churches, Mosques, Synagogues, and individuals to host a day, weekend, or week long Creation event to "enlighten the darkness of atheistic, theistic evolution, with an encounter with the Creator and Maintainer of the universe."

A "Celebration of Creation" event at Loma Linda University, sponsored by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and the Hope Channel, is already planned for October 23-24. Noted speakers include Cliff Goldstein, editor of the Adult Bible Study Guide and Leonard Brand, Professor of biology and paleontology, Loma Linda University.
